Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of students by guiding them to achieve their full potential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This part-time contract opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about fostering inclusive, accessible educational experiences for children and adolescents with hearing differences. With a highly flexible, 10-15 hours per week schedule for the upcoming school year, this position provides valuable impact while accommodating your professional and personal balance.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Demonstrated experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs), progress monitoring, and student advocacy Strong collaboration skills to partner effectively with multidisciplinary teams, teachers, and families Comfort and competence in providing instruction, accommodations, and resources to meet varied student needs Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and diversity in the classroom
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing Assess student abilities and develop teaching strategies that address their unique learning needs Work closely with general education teachers to ensure accessibility and inclusion in all classroom activities Contribute to student evaluation, progress documentation, and IEP meetings Serve as a resource and advocate for students, staff, and families regarding hearing loss and communication access Support the effective integration of assistive technology and visual resources in the learning environment Enjoy the rewards of specialized teaching with the flexibility to balance your schedule and focus on each student's success.
