Aug 10, 2026 Job Description Part-Time Health Science Teacher Alexander Central High School General Statement of Job Alexander County Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Part-Time Health Science Education Teacher to provide instruction as part of the district's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The candidate will teach Nursing Fundamentals, a course designed to prepare students for entry into healthcare careers and eligibility to sit for the North Carolina Nurse Aide I (CNA) Certification Examination. This position includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, as well as supervision of students in approved healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will bring current clinical experience to the classroom and help students develop the knowledge, technical skills, professionalism, and workplace readiness necessary for success in the healthcare field. Licensure Requirements Associate degree, diploma (3-year nursing program), or bachelor's degree in Nursing Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in 720 - Health Science Education-RN Must possess an unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license 2 years of work experience Essential duties and responsibilities Teach Nursing Fundamentals curriculum in accordance with North Carolina Health Science Education standards and Nurse Aide I training requirements Prepare students to successfully complete the North Carolina Nurse Aide I (CNA) Certification Examination Deliver engaging classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction that develops students' healthcare knowledge and technical skills Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate students during clinical experiences in approved healthcare facilities Maintain all records and documentation required for Nurse Aide I program approval and student clinical participation Ensure compliance with healthcare facility policies, patient confidentiality requirements, safety standards, and state regulations governing Nurse Aide education Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom and laboratory environment for hands-on learning Demonstrate and supervise healthcare skills and procedures using appropriate equipment and instructional resources Provide students with exposure to a variety of healthcare careers and postsecondary opportunities Incorporate employability skills, professionalism, communication, ethical practices, and patient-centered care concepts into instruction Collaborate with healthcare partners, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to enhance student learning opportunities Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with state and local policies Collaborate with colleagues, administration, advisory councils, and business/industry partners Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or CTE Director Essential knowledge and abilities Knowledge of nursing practice, healthcare systems, and current Nurse Aide I training standards Ability to develop engaging, real-world instructional activities that connect classroom learning to healthcare careers Knowledge of clinical supervision practices and healthcare facility requirements Familiarity with state and national Health Science Education standards and Nurse Aide certification requirements Strong classroom management and organizational skills Effective communication and collaboration skills Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, healthcare professionals, and community partners Proficiency in the use of instructional technology and healthcare simulation equipment Ability to supervise students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings Commitment to maintaining professional nursing licensure and staying current with healthcare industry trends
