2026-2027 Position Summary The Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) provides specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, enabling access to the general education curriculum and promoting language, communication, academic, and social-emotional development. Services may be delivered in a variety of settings, including general education classrooms, resource rooms, and through consultative or itinerant models. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Adapt curriculum, materials, and assessments to meet students' communication and learning needs. Support development of language, communication, and self-advocacy skills. Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families. Contribute to evaluations and assist in developing and monitoring IEP goals. Support student use of hearing assistive technology and accommodations. Maintain documentation and monitor student progress in compliance with regulations. Qualifications Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field. Valid Nebraska teaching certificate with endorsement in Deaf or Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain). Knowledge of language development, hearing loss, and instructional strategies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
