This role is much more than "babysitting." We are looking for someone who can become a trusted part of our family support system — helping provide consistency, safety, encouragement, and quality of life for our daughter while also helping our family maintain some balance in everyday life. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, highly attentive, emotionally mature, and comfortable assisting with both medical-related routines and normal teenage activities. Experience with special needs, neurological conditions, seizures, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or medically complex children/adolescents is strongly preferred.
Schedule Regular weekday hours approximately:
Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00
PM Occasional:
Evenings for date nights or appointments Weekend coverage as needed
Preferred:
Willingness to occasionally travel with the family on vacations or out-of-town trips Flexibility is highly valued.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide attentive daily supervision and companionship Assist with daily routines and activities Transport/accompany her to school and provide guidance, supervision, and assistance throughout the school day as needed Help monitor comfort, behavior, neurological status, and overall wellbeing Support toileting routines and mobility as needed Assist with meals, hydration, and medication reminders/organization Encourage participation in enjoyable and age-appropriate activities Help maintain a calm, low-stress environment Monitor for seizure activity or signs of distress and respond appropriately Communicate clearly with parents regarding symptoms, concerns, behaviors, and successes Light household assistance directly related to caregiving duties (tidying activity areas, laundry related to caregiving, preparing simple meals/snacks) Accompany family during outings, appointments, or travel as needed
Ideal Candidate Qualities:
Compassionate, patient, and emotionally steady Dependable and trustworthy Observant and detail-oriented Comfortable learning medical routines and symptom recognition Strong communication skills Able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Comfortable working closely with family members Able to adapt to changing medical or emotional needs Positive attitude with a genuine desire to help improve quality of life Preferred Qualifications Experience caring for children or teens with: special needs, seizure disorders, neurological conditions, developmental disabilities, chronic illness Nurse, CNA, nursing assistant, medical assistant, therapy aide, paraprofessional, or similar background preferred but not required CPR/First Aid certification preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Important Notes This position requires patience, empathy, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm during difficult moments. Our daughter is incredibly special, bright, and loved deeply. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a meaningful difference in the life of a child and her family. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, flexibility, and availability.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
