Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college Valid Nebraska Certificate with appropriate endorsement in subject area. ELL endorsement preferred Successful teaching and/or practice teaching experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate Successfully pass district background check

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of administrative guidelines. Evaluated by building principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provides engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction utilizing a diverse range of teaching methodologies. Works to develop partnerships with community businesses/organizations to promote STEM related activities. Plans and instructs one Communication & Production Class. Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicates those objectives to students. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Shares best practices in STEM education with colleagues. Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments in order to evaluate student progress. Provides instruction, support, and supervision to students. Uses project-based and inquiry-based methodologies to engage students in problem solving and critical thinking skills. Utilizes approved curriculum aligned to district learning targets and state standards. Implements the district goals and objectives of Norfolk Public Schools as applicable. Maintains contact and communication with parents of students and works with them in the development of each student's unique gifts and talents. Assesses and contributes to the curriculum design according to NPS guidelines. Participates in building activities and effectively collaborates with colleagues. Models appropriate interpersonal and communication skills in interactions with students and co-workers. Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Maintains accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. Enforces all administration policies and rules governing students. Confers with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems. Prepares students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks. Meets with parents and guardians as needed to discuss their children's progress. Guides and counsels students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests. Participates in team meetings to discuss individual student needs and progress. Prepares and implements support programs for students requiring extra help. Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors. Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage. Prepares reports on students and activities as required by administration. Administers standardized ability and achievement tests and interprets results to determine student strengths and areas of need. Organizes and supervises games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development. Plans and supervises class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guides students in learning from those activities. Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories classroom equipment, materials, and supplies. Performs additional duties as assigned.
