Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a difference for K-12 students by supporting their communication and learning as a dedicated Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract role offers the unique opportunity to work onsite in an inclusive educational environment, providing personalized instruction and advocacy for students with hearing differences. You'll work closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to ensure every student has the resources and individualized support they need to thrive. Qualifications & Desired Experience Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Bachelor's degree or higher in Deaf Education or a related field Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in diverse classroom settings Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used by students Strong collaborative skills to coordinate with teachers, staff, and families Deep understanding of IEP development and implementation for DHH students Key Responsibilities Deliver direct instruction and support to students across K-12 grade levels Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Partner with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies Track and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records Advocate for accessible resources, technology, and classroom accommodations Provide guidance and in-service training to school staff on best practices for supporting DHH learners Engage with families, ensuring they are informed and involved in their child's education This role provides the rewarding chance to empower students and create lasting impact in their academic journeys.
