Immediately Job Description Spaulding Academy & Family Services provides a therapeutic educational environment based on healing and growth, with a focus on the whole child. Our year-round, Monday through Friday program is student centered, and trauma informed, with special emphasis on social and emotional learning through programs such as Choose Love. Classrooms are small (8 to 10 students) and span a variety of ages in a non-traditional learning environment. We foster a professional learning community that is collaborative and open, with specific emphasis on staff development and growth in an environment that values each individual's strengths, skills and experiences. Vocational focused classroom teachers assist our high school aged students with developing skills needed to be successful in both work and everyday life by providing hands-on instruction in core academic subjects and specific job areas, workplace behaviors, and problem-solving strategies that prepare students for employment. At the same time, they support the development of independent living skills such as time management, communication, organization, and decision-making by coordinating off-campus learning experiences and offering guidance tailored to each student's needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in education
  • NH Special Education Certification (K-12)
  • Must be 21 years of age Knowledge and skills:
  • Ability and desire to teach special education students using activities designed to support intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.
Experience teaching multi-age, multi-grade and multi-subject classes. Creativity, participation and strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to supervise support staff in curriculum, IEPs, behavioral plans and more
