District Teacher Leader 1 (School-Based Instructional Leader )PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Serves as an instructional leader for a grade level (or content area in Senior High School) and provides leadership for the instructional staff of the school regarding instruction, best practices, and school/district programs and initiatives in the following: Team Building, Culture and Climate 1. Act as role model of professional excellence in all areas (ex. Attendance, professional behavior, student advocacy, teaching, and learning). 2. Lead your team in understanding the LEAP model and setting high expectations for learning. 3. K-8 Teacher Leaders - Lead Common Planning Time at least one day per week apart from meeting with your supervisor or principal. Lead Teacher is responsible for collecting sign-in sheet, notes/minutes for each meeting and sending to all attendees including the principal each week. 4. High School Teacher Leaders - Lead Common Planning Time at least every other week and support the K-12 department during designated PDI opportunities. 5. Meet with your team to review student data (work, grades, assessment data, etc.) 6. Create team-wide incentives for the students within your team to celebrate excellence. 7. Support novice LEAP Teachers on your team. 8. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee. Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Leader ship 1. Engage in academic activities that are directly linked to classroom and evidence-based best practices and focus on ensuring that the relationship between teachers and students in the presence of content is effective, inclusive, and relevant. 2. Set non-negotiable goals for student learning with your team and supervisor(s). Improve teaching and learning at your grade level/content area by ensuring lessons are aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and district goals and by Modeling effective lesson planning, project-based instruction, and management of students for your team. 6. Demonstrate how to use data to inform lesson planning for students that is standards-based. 7. Monitor the pacing of the curriculum and give feedback to your content supervisors regularly. 8. Conduct lesson study with your team and provide feedback to increase the use of best practices. 9. Train and receive certification in the Classroom Visit Tool (CVT) and participate in monthly CVT walkthroughs. 10. Assist district administration during Professional Development by leading groups of teachers in discussion, presenting material, or facilitating a session. Advocacy and Support 1. Provide leadership for student academic and social improvement with your team (ex. Responsive Classroom Strategies, Intervention tracking, etc.). 2. Make recommendations for professional development for your team to your supervisor. 3. Meet monthly with the Chief Academic Officer after school 3:30-4:30. Meeting days will be pre-scheduled. 4. Meet monthly as a group with the principal at a time determined by the team (could be before school or after school) 5. Meet monthly one-on-one with your building Principal during the school day/CPT 6. Meet, as needed, prior to our full-day PD days via Zoom.QUALIFICATIONS
1. Be an appointed LEAP Academy University Charter School teacher. 2. Excellent record of attendance and punctuality. 3. Minimum two years of successful experience in building-level school teaching. 4. Demonstrated the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers and parents. 5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.REPORTS TO
School Building Principal/Chief Academic OfficerTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten month contracted position. Must report to work on all student calendar days (200) and one additional day prior to the school year starting in August. Teacher Leaders who are selected for only 1 of the 2 positions (receiving a $5,000 stipend) will be eligible for the daily stipend offered to teachers working Extended Project-Based Learning days.EVALUATION
: Annually according to state statute and rule and Board policy.SALARY GRADE/RANGE
: Stipend of $5,000.00 annuallyTIME:
