Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A school district in Edison, NJ is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support a self-contained classroom serving students in grades K through 2. This contract position will last from now until the end of the current school year, providing a meaningful opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of young learners on the autism spectrum. The class consists of 8 students with autism spectrum disorder, and you will work alongside two paraprofessionals to deliver individualized instruction and support. This role requires expertise in creating and implementing tailored educational plans that foster academic, social, and emotional growth within a structured classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction to K-2 students with autism spectrum disorder in a self-contained setting Collaborate with paraprofessionals to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement and development Communicate effectively with families and support staff to ensure continuity of care and education

Qualifications:

Active Standard or Teacher of the Handicapped Licensure in New Jersey Experience working with young children on the autism spectrum, preferably in grades K-2 Strong classroom management skills and ability to lead a self-contained classroom Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and other educational staff This position offers the chance to contribute your expertise within a supportive school community.
