Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A rewarding opportunity exists for two experienced educators to work as Pre-K to 1st Grade teachers within a specialized Autism classroom serving 6 to 8 students. Located in New Brunswick, NJ, this contract position offers the chance to work in a non-verbal, self-contained classroom environment designed to support high-needs learners.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction tailored to young students on the autism spectrum, many of whom are nonverbal. Promote functional behavior and communication skills to foster student growth and independence. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team including Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Occupational Therapists (OT), Physical Therapists (PT), and paraprofessionals. Maintain a supportive classroom environment with approximately six students and two paraprofessionals. Contribute to the development and implementation of effective educational strategies tailored to students' needs. Follow elementary school hours from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification: Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) plus PreK-3 certification, or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH). Prior experience working with students on the autism spectrum, preferably within a self-contained classroom setting. Strong understanding of behavior management and communication strategies tailored to nonverbal students. Ability to work collaboratively with a full support team of specialists and paraprofessionals.
