Duties:
1. Participates as member of the Individual Educational Program (IEP) Committee and assists in the development of an IEP for assigned students. 2. Provides direct instruction to students that address the Common Core Standards or Expanded Grade Band Expectations, the students specific IEP goals and/or objectives and the Expanded Core Curriculum. 3. Performs assessments of student skills on a regular basis and uses data from various New Mexico state assessments to determine the appropriate academic and blind/visually impaired goals and/or objectives to be presented at IEPs. 4. Develops and uses unique instructional methods and curriculums that will maximize a students learning and IEP goal attainment. 5. Observes students for purposes of monitoring and modifying student academic and social behaviors. 6. Documents and evaluates student progress and behaviors by maintaining appropriate supporting data, completing progress reports, and keeping attendance records.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary, Secondary or Special Education and the following licenses: Level Three-A Instructional Leader Pre K-12 Specialty Area, State of New Mexico, and Level Three-A Instructional Leader Pre K-12 Special Education, State of New Mexico.
