SUMMARY:
Teaches by creating a flexible program and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; by encouraging students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to obtain a good foundation for continuous growth and development; by providing students with experiences which integrate the affective, cognitive and psychomotor dimensions of learning; by establishing effective rapport with students and their parents; by assisting students in developing positive feelings toward themselves and others. The duties and responsibilities of the STEAM teacher involve instruction directly related to STEAM and computer science.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
: Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation: Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the curricula for technology, engineering, and science programs. Ensure that topics taught in the classroom meet state and national standards and requirements. Maintain current knowledge of developments in the STEAM model and science and technology. Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math using the NGSS Content Standards. Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades K through 12. Develop and implement innovative curriculum plans that incorporate STEAM principles and align with educational standards. Design and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, experimentation, and collaboration. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement. Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth. Integrate real-world applications and hands-on activities to reinforce STEAM concepts and inspire student interest. Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate interdisciplinary projects and promote cross-curricular connections. Stay informed about current trends, developments, and best practices in STEAM education through professional development opportunities. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success and address any concerns or challenges. Participate in school-wide events, committees, and initiatives as an active member of the educational community.DUTIES:
In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties: Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Albuquerque Public Schools. Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations. Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly. Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community and other professionals. Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities. Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within the area of responsibility. Performs other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by an immediate supervisor.PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility, organization, decision making and problem solving skills. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone. Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial procedures, and legal requirements. Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others. Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies and child abuse/neglect. Knowledge of all laws, regulations and guidelines affecting teachers and students. Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques. Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members and staff. Demonstrate experience teaching STEAM subjects at the primary/ secondary level. Strong knowledge of STEAM concepts, principles, and applications. Proficiency in integrating technology tools and resources to enhance instruction and learning outcomes. Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades K through 12.REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUMREQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Valid NM Teacher's Level II or Level III license appropriate to teaching assignment (200 K-8 license elementary, 350 5-9 mid level for middle school/300 7-12 secondary for middle school, and 300 secondary for high school). 5 or more years experience teaching students inK-12.
