194 Days Position Summary Provides bilingual and culturally responsive instruction while delivering targeted core academic interventions to support student learning. The position promotes student achievement, bilingualism, and biliteracy while assisting students who require additional academic support to meet state and district standards. Supervision Received Receives general direction from the Principal or designee. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide instruction aligned with district curriculum and state academic standards. Read, write, and speak the home language (Navajo, Zuni, or Spanish) and English proficiently. Deliver targeted academic interventions to support student achievement and skill development. Develop, administer, and analyze assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to support diverse learning needs. Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student learning and academic success. Assist in the development and implementation of intervention strategies and individualized learning plans when needed. Promote positive student behavior and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. Foster respect for cultural diversity and the traditional beliefs and practices of Native American communities. Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and district initiatives. Maintain appropriate student records and ensure confidentiality of information. Performs all teaching requirements as required by the district/state Perform related duties as assigned.Qualifications / Knowledge
and Skills Knowledge of instructional strategies, curriculum development, and student assessment practices. Ability to implement effective teaching and intervention techniques. Content area theories, approved curriculum, and the objectives of assigned area of instruction. Teaching methods and resources for each assigned area of instruction Modern, effective and innovative teaching practices and techniques. Modern office and classroom equipment, including computers. The principles of student growth, development, and learning to enhance student learning and understanding. State and District curriculum guidelines or requirements. Cultural diversities of the local area Recent development, current literature and information related to bilingual education programs. Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and safety regulations. Knowledge of cultural traditions and practices of the Native American communities Analyze and interpret literature and apply to classroom practices Understand, develop and implement bilingual curriculum in conjunction with local, state and national standards. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.Experience and Training Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field.Experience:
Previous experience in a school setting is desirable. TESOL endorsement preferred. Licensure and Certificates Possession of, or ability to obtain, the appropriate teaching license from the New Mexico Public Education Department, including: New Mexico Native American Language and Culture PreK-12 Certificate (520 Certificate) or appropriate endorsement to teach Navajo or Zuni.
