Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Inspire students and play a crucial role in enhancing access to education for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the Binghamton, NY area. As a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH), you'll bring your expertise to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment through onsite instruction, collaboration, and advocacy. This full-time contract opportunity will span the 2026-2027 school year, with detailed caseload information forthcoming.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) Previous experience in educational settings with children who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing strongly preferred Strong understanding of assistive technologies and alternative communication strategies (e.g., ASL, Cued Speech, auditory/oral approaches) Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Commitment to advocating for student inclusion and individualized support Flexibility, adaptability, and a student-centered approachKey Responsibilities:
Provide direct instructional services to students with hearing impairments in an onsite school environment Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support access to curriculum Implement IEPs, track student progress, and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet individual needs Facilitate use of assistive listening devices and other technologies as needed Participate in professional development opportunities related to Deaf/Hard of Hearing education This rewarding assignment offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in students' lives while working as part of a dedicated educational team.
