Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting young learners in a 3-5 grade special education program. This half-day morning position, running from July 9th to August 18th, provides the chance to make a true impact during the summer session. In this role, you'll work closely with a small group of students—estimated at 6-7—within a 12:1+1 classroom environment. A dedicated teaching assistant will partner with you each day, ensuring that students receive the individual attention they deserve. These students present with both academic and social communication needs, but typically do not display behavioral challenges in the school setting. Your expertise and empathy will help guide them toward greater confidence and growth during these crucial weeks.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid New York State certification as a Special Education Teacher (Elementary level) Experience working with students in grades 3-5 is preferred Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and CSE meeting processes Skilled in supporting academic achievement and fostering social communication Collaborative mindset and commitment to working alongside a teaching assistant
