Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities await for experienced Special Education Teachers seeking contract work in a school-based setting. This role focuses on providing Extended School Year (ESY) support in a dedicated 1:1 environment, working closely with a 2nd grade student who is awaiting placement. The position is set to begin in early July, allowing educators to make a real difference during the summer session. Ideal candidates bring a deep passion for supporting neurodiverse students and a commitment to individualized instruction. Strong relationship-building skills and adaptability are key, as you'll work intensively to encourage academic and social growth for your assigned student.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid certification or licensure in Special Education (state requirements must be met) Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, particularly in elementary settings, preferred Experience with ESY (Extended School Year) programs is highly valued Skilled in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Ability to modify curriculum and employ varied teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 specialized educational support to a 2nd-grade student during the ESY session Develop and adapt lesson plans that cater to the student's specific needs and learning goals Track and document progress toward IEP objectives Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment Maintain regular communication with parents and school staff regarding progress You'll be stepping into a contract role that offers the chance to positively influence a young student's summer learning experience.
