Job Description

Role Overview Thrive Education Partners is seeking a thoughtful, experienced Special Education Teacher to provide highly personalized, one-on-one instruction for a fourth-grade student in a homebound setting in Miller Place, NY. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in individualized learning environments and understands how to balance structure, warmth, and flexibility. You'll support the student academically while also helping build confidence, independence, and a more positive relationship with learning. The position offers the opportunity to work deeply with one student over time, creating meaningful growth through consistent support, responsive instruction, and strong relational connection. Student Profile You'll be working with a fourth-grade student with disabilities who receives services through an IEP. The primary instructional focus areas are reading and math, with a strong emphasis on reading intervention and foundational skill development. The student benefits from an educator who can bring energy, consistency, encouragement, and clear routines while remaining flexible and responsive to the student's needs in the moment. This role is not only about academic support — it's also about helping the student build confidence, independence, and greater engagement with learning over time. The family is highly involved and values strong communication and collaboration. The educator will also coordinate with the school district as needed to ensure continuity and alignment with the student's educational plan. What You'll Do Provide engaging, individualized instruction in reading, math, and other core academic areas Deliver targeted reading intervention based on the student's learning profile and needs Support progress toward IEP goals through differentiated instruction and skill-building Use school-provided curriculum while supplementing instruction to address foundational gaps Assess student performance and adjust instruction responsively Implement progress monitoring and maintain awareness of student growth over time Establish structured routines and clear expectations that support consistency and confidence Collaborate professionally with parents and the school district to maintain alignment and communication What Makes Someone Successful in This Role You are a relational, patient educator who genuinely enjoys building trust with students You bring both energy and structure to your teaching You know how to maintain clear expectations while adapting to student needs in real time You are confident personalizing instruction for students with learning differences You communicate professionally and collaboratively with families and educational teams You are organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a home setting

Miller Place, NY Schedule:
Approximately 10 hours per week
Preferred Hours:
Monday-Thursday, approximately 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Two days may require slightly extended hours to reach weekly totals Student has a structured midday break for meals/supplements; longer days may include a brief pause in instruction

$40-90/hour, depending on experience

$50.00 - $90.00 per hour
