- Special Education Teachers Required Application Type Teacher / Admin Salary/Pay Scale Salary range starting at $67,765 Job Description The Ulster BOCES Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning (CITL) Student-Based Programs is seeking Special Education Teachers for full-time, 10-month positions for the 2026-2027 school year.

To help students develop skills and knowledge that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.SPECIFIC DUTIES
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated by the administrator. Plans a program of study that is consistent with the individualized education plan. Maintains written lesson plans, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, and communicates these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Assesses the performance of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Administers and scores State Education Department assessments. Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation and provides reports of same when requested within designated time frames. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. Plans and coordinates purposeful assignments for classroom teaching assistant, teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s). Plans and coordinates, when necessary, with mainstream teachers. Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids and instructional supplies. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Assumes other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.WORK SCHEDULE
10 Month Schedule, September through June Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.- 2:40 p.
