Description Position is responsible for the academic instruction and safety of children in the classroom by preforming the following duties Writes, organizes, and implements the classroom program Recommends goals and objectives for IEPs Schedules instructional areas and develops group and individual social and emotional plans. Participates in admissions process for students being considered for the classroom, including review of intake material. Input in pre-screening meetings, classroom evaluation during screening, and providing input during post-screening meetings. Participates in professional development of teaching assistant including review of lesson plans and data. Maintains accurate and current classroom records including attendance records, IEPs, lesson plans, and student evaluation report cards. Participates actively in the following meetings: room program, staff development, team, parental conferences, supervision with Coordinator and open school night. Preforms other related duties assigned. Qualifications Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university. New York State (NYS) certification as a special education teacher. Previous experience in special education or previous classroom experience required. The ability to communicated and interact effectively with students, staff and administrators. The ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organization and planning skills needed.
