This is not a traditional special education classroom. Our program is designed for students who require highly individualized, evidence-based instruction to build academic fluency, executive functioning, independence, self-regulation, social communication, and readiness for less restrictive environments. Many of our students are cognitively capable learners whose needs are often overlooked in traditional settings due to challenges with classroom participation, academic stamina, self-management, flexible thinking, and skill generalization. We are seeking educators who deeply understand how students on the spectrum learn and who are passionate about systematic, explicit, and data-driven teaching. The ideal candidate is a certified Special Education Teacher with strong experience working with students with autism in an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) school or educational programs using the principles of ABA. Experience implementing Direct Instruction (DI) curriculum and Orton-Gillingham (OG) reading methodologies is highly preferred, but not required. This position is ideal for educators who value instructional rigor, collaboration, student growth, and meaningful long-term outcomes for children. It is also an excellent opportunity for individuals currently enrolled in a master's program in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and/or those who have completed their coursework and are seeking supervised fieldwork experiences to further develop and expand their behavior analytic skills within an educational setting. About Foundry 8:1:3 Foundry 8:1:3 is a highly individualized 12-month educational program grounded in the science and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Our program integrates:
Individualized and differentiated instruction Daily data collection and analysis Fluency-based teaching Systematic prompting and fading Executive functioning and self-regulation support Social communication instruction 1:1 and small-group learning Strategic adult fading and generalization training Multidisciplinary collaboration with BCBAs and related service providers Each classroom serves up to 8 students and is staffed by: 1 Special Education/ABA Head Teacher 3 Assistant Teachers Ongoing BCBA supervision and support Our mission is to build strong foundations, increase independence, and prepare students for life beyond school through evidence-based, compassionate, and high-quality instruction. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized, data-driven instructional programs aligned with students' annual goals Provide explicit academic instruction in reading, writing, math, executive functioning, and social communication Utilize systematic, explicit, and data-driven teaching methodologies to increase fluency, independence, and generalization of skills Implement evidence-based literacy instruction, including Orton-Gillingham methodologies when appropriate Collaborate closely with BCBAs, related service providers, and classroom staff Analyze student performance data and adjust instruction accordingly Support students in developing self-regulation, classroom participation, and independent work skills Create a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment Supervise and mentor assistant teachers Foster skill generalization across settings, people, and routines Preferred Qualifications We are specifically seeking candidates with: New York State Special Education Certification Master's Degree in Special Education or related field Minimum 3 years of experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder Experience working in an ABA school or programs using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strongly preferred Experience implementing Direct Instruction (DI) curriculum and/or Orton-Gillingham (OG) methodologies preferred, but not required Experience with: Fluency-based instruction Data-driven instructional practices Executive functioning and self-regulation support Strong classroom leadership and team collaboration skills Excellent organizational, communication, and data-analysis skills Passion for individualized instruction and meaningful student outcomes Why Join Foundry 8:1:3?
