Job Description
Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic educational environment. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with students, their families, and dedicated school teams to foster an engaging and inclusive learning experience. Using specialized skills and tailored communication methods, you'll nurture each student's growth and confidence while collaborating with educators and support staff.
Desired qualifications and experience:
Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Experience working with students who are DHH in an educational setting Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication systems Commitment to individualized instruction and advocacy for accessible education Ability to adapt interventions and accommodations to meet student needs Excellent collaboration and interpersonal abilities Knowledge of assistive technology and relevant resources Primary responsibilities: Provide direct instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across grade levels Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and accommodations Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and related service providers to create a supportive environment Assess students' progress, maintaining clear documentation and reports Facilitate communication access through appropriate modalities Support the use and integration of assistive listening devices and technologies Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise in DHH education Promote self-advocacy and independence for students By stepping into this rewarding role, you'll help ensure students receive the guidance, encouragement, and resources they need to thrive academically and socially.
