The school is in search of a part-time lead teacher for its mixed age classroom of young 3's and 4's . The lead teacher will join the rest of the WRNS staff to prepare and implement a program appropriate to the needs of the children, consistent with the school's play-based philosophy to encourage confidence and independence in every child. Candidates must have an awareness of the unique needs of young children. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, encouraging, and willing and able to work as a team to provide patient and supportive guidance to enhance the learning process for our students, and will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood education, and experience leading a play-based, child-led classroom. Schedule
- At WRNS, 8:30 am to 12 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Planning time of an additional 2.5 hrs per week.
- Additional one-time meetings (in August) and classroom set-up (in early September).
- Monthly staff meetings after school.

Strongly Preferred:
Teacher Certification, Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Ed., with lead experience.Minimum:
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Ed. or Bachelor's degree in related field, with lead experience.- First Aid /
CPR:
Teachers must have a current First Aid/CPR certification before the start of the contract, along with online NYS Mandated Reporter Training and Anaphylaxis Training. Physical Requirements- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand for extended periods, work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and provide physical support to students in varying circumstances that include, but are not limited to, first aid, bathroom use, changing diapers, illness, etc. Duties
- Teachers are responsible for planning lessons, coordinating art projects independently and with other lead teachers, leading circle time, setting up and cleaning the classroom, assisting in conflict resolution between students, playground supervision, gate duty, and teaching developmentally appropriate skills and knowledge.
- Teachers are required to send home a fall check-in, hold a conference with each child's primary caregivers once during the school year, document student progress, as well as provide open and timely communication with families on an as-needed basis, to ensure that expectations are met for the child's educational and developmental needs.
- Teachers must attend regular staff meetings once a month, after school, and other events as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Teachers shall participate in recommended training programs, courses, and other activities that ensure personal growth. Other duties may be assigned by the Board of Directors. Compensation
- This position is salaried, overtime-exempt, and seasonal.
- This position has the option to renew for the following school year of 2027-2028 at the discretion of the Board of the Directors.
- Compensation is offered commensurate with experience, credentials, and qualifications.
- The salary range is $13,600 to $14,250 annually (apx. ~690 hours).
- Contracted seasonal employment dates are August 19, 2026 - June 4, 2027. Salary is paid twice monthly via direct deposit, over 19 pay periods, from September - June. Benefits & Other
- Position includes 10 school days of PTO, immediately available, no accrual.
