  • $23•25/hr•Selkirk, NY [JR] NY Support Broker Selkirk, NY Job Details Part-time $23•$25 an hour 8 hours ago Qualifications Working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders Parent collaboration Developmental disability care assistance High school diploma or GED Driver's License Direct support Full Job Description We are seeking a kind, patient, and emotionally steady Direct Support Professional / Community Habilitation Worker to provide 1-on-1 support for a bright, curious elementary-aged boy with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and emotional regulation needs.
He is social, playful, and enjoys Star Trek, Minecraft, computers, Legos, and outdoor play. This role focuses on helping him build skills, manage emotions, participate safely in the community, and develop positive peer relationships in a structured, supportive environment.
Important:
The family has experienced a significant loss within the past year. The right candidate must bring empathy, maturity, and sensitivity when supporting both the child and family during this period of adjustment. This is a 1-on-1 position paid through New York's Self-Direction program at $23/hour , increasing to $25/hour after a successful trial period . This position is ideal for someone who: Has experience in childcare, special education, or supporting individuals with autism or ADHD Wants to work in a lower-stress, one-on-one environment Can support a bright, active child while helping him build social and emotional skills Can provide calm, consistent support for a household recovering from profound trauma Key Responsibilities Provide direct supervision at all times, especially during community outings Participate in safe recreational activities and community-based experiences Help build social skills and support positive engagement with same-age peers Provide light assistance with routines, communication strategies, and transitions Support Jackson with emotional regulation, especially when he is tired, overwhelmed, or overstimulated Qualifications High school diploma or GED Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation Patient, dependable, and able to follow a structured support plan Willingness to be trained and work collaboratively with the family and behavioral providers
