Job Description

About us The United Preschool is a company located in White Plains, NY. The United Preschool is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher for our Preschool program located in White Plains, NY. The position will be for providing coverage for a Maternity Leave beginning in September 2026. Candidate must be organized, structured, and have excellent communication, and writing skills. Experience working with individuals who have severe developmental disabilities is key to this position. Have the ability to work with the team that includes teacher assistants, service providers and parents. Must have or working towards the

Essential Duties:
Assesses and evaluates each student to determine and make educational recommendations for the child's individual educational program. Writes behaviorally stated goals and objectives for each student based on the IEP. Prepares and adheres to a written daily activity schedule for the group and each individual in the group. Plans and implements a program of individual and group activities and experiences based on individual needs and IEP goals. Implements lunch/feeding programs as identified in the student's IEP and/or by the therapeutic feeding team. Maintains attendance records as required. Maintains data of student individual goal work. Reports daily progress to family members. Prepares quarterly and yearly progress reports in accordance with established procedures and time tables. Maintains cleanliness of classroom equipment. Provides the Director with a list of needed supplies and equipment. Monitors and maintains accurate supervision of the students. Develops guidelines for behavior management based on the IEP. Reports all incidents and accidents, in writing on the appropriate forms, before the end of the school day in which the event occurred. Provides assignments, direction, and training for assistants and teacher aides. Supervises teacher assistants and aides to carry out programs in the absence of the teacher by providing materials and instructions. Schedules lunch breaks for assistants and aides. Meets with the assistants and aides regularly to share information, plan programs and resolve problems. Provides regular feedback for assistants and aides as to their performance, strengths and needs.
