Job Description

General Special Education Teacher (for 26-27)
DUTIES:
Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year to provide instruction to special education students. Duties will include developing and implementing IEPs, monitoring and assessing student progress, differentiating instruction per student needs and working in a collaborative team setting. The successful candidate will also maintain regular contact with local school district representatives and parents, perform educational assessments as requested and utilize data to inform instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate New York State Education Department certification in Special Education K-12 or Students with Disabilities.
CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED
Ability to supervise classroom team. Experience working with students with autism. Experience working collaboratively with therapists and clinicians. Knowledge of the annual review process. Candidates must be organized, flexible and have effective written communication and problem-solving skills. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
