Job Description

EveryBody Works (a part of the Food For Good Thought agency) is a transition program focused on individuals with special needs (autism and other development disabilities), providing them with the tools to grow and become independent adults. This program is located on Ohio Dominican University Campus. FFGT is hiring a qualified Intervention Specialist specializing in Mild/Mod. The position is full-time, 12 months a year. Job duties are described below Full-time Schedule (start time & end times vary within listed hours) - 7:30-4:00 Monday through Friday (38-42 hours weekly).
Responsibilities:
Communicates and collaborates with each school district's transition coordinator for the purpose of providing the information to be included in the general IEP with respect to the EBW program. Develops and shares a progress report on a quarterly basis to each transition coordinator. Attends IEP and Transition meetings and encourages each student to advocate for their goals. Communicates and collaborates with each student and their families to ensure accurate representation of goals. Creates classroom instruction and lesson plans that support the goals, needs and wants of all students. Responsible for uploading content on Google Classroom on a regular basis. Collaborates with classroom staff to prepare for the school year, the school day and to provide training regarding each student's needs and the classroom material. Communicates with parents at least monthly to ensure they are aware of progress, to assist the student to be prepared for the day-to-day and any special activities and events. Works with the employment specialist and job coaches to coordinate classroom instruction regarding potential students' employment needs. Makes adjustment to teaching strategies according to the student's needs. Creates classroom schedule and community access days based on student's needs. Responsible for providing transportation to community locations and outings Oversees student progress at internship sites, working alongside the Employment Specialist. Provides expertise to fellow staff regarding the development and implementation of specific interventions for specific challenges. Gathers data and assesses classroom success, internship success and special intervention results. Summer duties include providing support to individuals in programming, in the community, and assist with the development of social/emotional skills.
Requirements:
Must have completed college education and coursework required to be a licensed Intervention Specialist in the State of Ohio. Intervention Specialist License must be valid. Must be willing and capable of passing a CPR and First Aid course. Clean background check and drug screen. Must be physically fit to transport students (a doctor will need to complete a medical clearance form). Additional Information The person hired will be an employee of Food for Good Thought and work with the EveryBody Works program and others as needed. Summer hours are adjusted to four 10-hours shifts (Monday - Thursday) with Fridays off. Summer meetings for IEPs may be scheduled and may need to be attended.
