Per adopted salary schedule Position Summary The Intervention Specialist – Multiple Disabilities (Specialized Skills Unit) provides specialized instruction and support to students with significant cognitive, physical, behavioral, communication, and/or medical needs. The teacher develops and implements individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to support academic, functional, social-emotional, communication, and daily living skills while fostering student independence and inclusion whenever appropriate. Qualifications Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License with Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive credentials appropriate for assignment Multiple Disabilities endorsement preferred or willingness to obtain Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirements Experience working with students with significant disabilities preferred CPI, de-escalation, or behavior intervention training preferred Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and related service providers Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations Provide direct specialized instruction aligned to student goals and Ohio Learning Standards Adapt curriculum, instructional methods, and classroom materials to meet individual student needs Implement behavior intervention plans and positive behavioral supports Support students with communication, social, emotional, motor, adaptive, and daily living skills Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, school psychologists, and related service providers Supervise and direct paraprofessional staff assigned to the Specialized Skills Unit Utilize assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies as appropriate Maintain accurate student records, progress monitoring data, Medicaid documentation, and compliance paperwork Participate in IEP meetings, evaluation team reports, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary meetings Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment Assist students with personal care needs as required by student IEPs Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs Participate in professional development and district training opportunities Perform other duties as assigned by the administration Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and specially designed instruction Ability to manage and support diverse behavioral and learning needs Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Knowledge of assistive technology, AAC devices, and adaptive equipment preferred Ability to physically assist students as needed for safety, mobility, and daily care Working Conditions Classroom setting with students requiring varying levels of academic, behavioral, medical, and physical support May require lifting, positioning, or assisting students with mobility and personal care needs Exposure to student behaviors that may require physical intervention training Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy, Ohio law, and district administrative procedures.
