Student Services Coordinator Primary Function:
The Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing intervention services and support to better facilitate access for all students in meeting common core standards as developed by the Ohio Department of Education. This position is a part of the Special Education program at Toledo School for the Arts.
Essential Functions:
Promotes TSA's mission, philosophy, and vision. Coordinates team participation and assists in formulating assigned grade level Individual Education Plans (IEP) as defined by the Evaluation Team Report (ETR). Facilitates and oversees compliant student service delivery as defined by the each student's ETR and IEP. Works cooperatively with general classroom teachers including interpreting the abilities and disabilities of each student receiving services through an IEP. Works cooperatively with the development of effective classroom intervention strategies and assisting with modifying general education curriculum as necessary. Assists students with general education content mastery during pre-teaching, re-teaching, and reinforcement opportunities within the resource room environment as necessary. Communicates regularly with parents and staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of students. Assists students in assessing their abilities and interests to establish effective and compliant transition goals. Participate as a member of Intervention Assistance Team (IAT) process. Participate in the completion of 504 reports. Completes all necessary reports and record keeping as required by the district, as well as state and local policies and procedures related to the IEP process. Participates in professional growth activities through staff development, in-service, workshops, and higher education. Maintain effective classroom management.
Required Qualifications:
(education / software/ health and safety) Bachelor's Degree in Education. Holds or eligible for a Valid Ohio Teacher License; and Special Education designation. Experience in leadership and/or community volunteer activities. Technologically proficient in basic database and/or office software. Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance. Possesses high moral character and good attendance record. Meets all state-mandated health and safety requirements. Effective organizational, planning, and project management skills. A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Complies with drug-free workplace policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree. 2+ years experience as an Intervention Specialist.
Experience with the following:
IEP, ETR, IAT, RTI, 504
Plans.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Complies with TSA Board Policies as well as supervisory and/or administrative directives. Attends as many school events in support of TSA students as possible. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed. Serves as a positive role model to students and positive representative of TSA to the community.
