Elementary School, Self-Contained Requirements:
Active Oklahoma Special Education License We are seeking a Special Education Teacher for an elementary self-contained classroom serving students with severe to profound support needs. This role will provide individualized instruction, structured classroom support, and daily programming for students who require intensive academic, functional, behavioral, communication, and adaptive support. The teacher will be responsible for implementing IEP goals, providing specially designed instruction, supporting daily routines, and collaborating with related service providers and support staff to help students access learning in a safe, consistent, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction aligned to student IEP goals and individualized learning needs. Support students with severe to profound academic, functional, adaptive, behavioral, and communication needs. Develop and implement accommodations, modifications, interventions, and progress monitoring. Create a structured classroom environment that supports routines, safety, independence, and student growth. Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, families, and school leadership. Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate special education documentation. Support students throughout the instructional day based on their individual needs and service minutes. Collect progress data and adjust instruction based on student performance and IEP goals.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is patient, structured, and confident supporting students with higher-level needs. They should be comfortable leading a self-contained classroom, working closely with support staff, and creating a calm learning environment where students can build skills at their own pace.
