Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a close-knit elementary school environment. This contract opportunity for the upcoming school year focuses on resource room instruction, providing services to a diverse caseload of no more than 10 students at a time. You'll work with children in PreK through 6th grade who have needs including learning disabilities, autism, hearing impairments, other health impairments, and severe/profound cases. Your responsibilities will include delivering small-group resource instruction, rotating groups throughout the day, and ensuring individualized support through IEP writing, behavioral planning, lesson planning, and grading. With only 15 Fridays required throughout the school year, you'll enjoy a balanced schedule and extra flexibility.
Qualifications:
Valid Special Education (SPED) certification Recent experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably in elementary settings Skilled at writing IEPs, designing lesson plans, and managing a variety of student needs Familiarity with conditions such as autism, learning disabilities, hearing impairments, and severe/profound exceptionalities Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and staff What you'll do: Deliver targeted resource room instruction to groups of up to 10 students Write and implement IEPs and behavior intervention plans Track student progress and maintain accurate records Adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning needs Participate in team meetings and communicate regularly with parents and staff Expect an engaging school culture in a supportive setting where your specialized skills are valued and student progress is a priority.
