Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Bring your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a rewarding contract assignment in a supportive school community serving students from PreK to 6th grade. This role provides the chance to make a significant impact in resource room instruction, guiding a diverse group of learners and helping to shape their academic journey for the upcoming school year. In this position, you will work primarily in one school, supporting students with a range of abilities and exceptionalities, including learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, other health impairments, hearing impairments, and severe/profound needs. The caseload rotates and is intentionally kept small, typically not exceeding ten students at a time, allowing you to give each child the attention they deserve.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification (SPED cert) Recent experience writing and implementing IEPs and behavior plans Comfortable developing lesson plans, providing resource room instruction, and grading assignments Experience with a range of disabilities, including autism, OHI, learning and hearing impairments Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset Ability to work with PreK-6th grade studentsRole Duties:
Deliver resource room instruction to rotating groups of students Create and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior support plans Develop engaging lesson plans and manage grading Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment Collaborate with staff, specialists, and families to support student success Enjoy a predictable weekly schedule of 37.5 hours, with the added benefit of shorter weeks - most Fridays are off throughout the school year to support work-life balance.
