Position:
Gifted Teacher Reports to: Site Principal; Consults with District Gifted Coordinator, Site Principal, Assistant Principal, and Executive Director of Teaching and Learning
Supervises:
None
Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible for an Oklahoma teaching certificate. Meet all certification requirements, including teaching area endorsement (preferably Gifted) in the state of Oklahoma. Satisfy all district requirements about physical health and citizenship. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goals:
To be a facilitator of communication, cooperation, and coordination who consults, collaborates, and engages in teamwork with other educators to identify learning and behavioural needs of gifted students; and plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs to meet those needs. To support the implementation of gifted services at the site level in consultation with teachers, administrators, and parents.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Complete and maintain all administrative paperwork related to gifted services at the site level, including student entry and exit documentation (e.g., parent permission forms, qualification paperwork and matrices, and records requests), and ensure the maintenance of confidential student files. Confer with site principals regarding placement, policy, new enrollees, service delivery, and other matters related to student services. Confer with individual parents and teachers regarding testing pertaining to identification for gifted services (referral, results, etc.). Coordinate and administer, as required, assessments related to the identification of students for gifted services and/or acceleration, in accordance with district procedures. Provide professional learning addressing gifted identification, instructional strategies, and/or the academic and affective needs of gifted learners. Provide leadership, support, and instructional resources for teachers serving gifted students, including collaboration on differentiated curriculum, extension opportunities, team teaching, and modeling effective instructional strategies. Provide parent communication related to gifted services, including welcome and on-going informational communications. Participate in district-level gifted meetings and serve on the Local Advisory Committee for gifted and talented education. Attend conferences, workshops and meetings to stay informed regarding current issues and practices in gifted education and serve as an advocate for gifted education. Facilitate instruction with identified gifted students. Support gifted student engagement by monitoring academic progress and communicating with students through district-approved platforms to share information related to giftedness and promote enrichment opportunities, clubs, or activities, as appropriate for grade level.
Employment Terms:
Nine (9) months a year. Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by the Board through the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Jenks Classroom Teachers Association.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Jenks Public Schools Board of Education's policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20) and by Oklahoma State Law.

Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.
Visual Requirements:
Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements:
Adequate to exchange information.
