The ASC Assistant works under the guidance of the Instructional Specialist to provide academic support and assistance to students accessing Tier 3 support. This position requires working with small groups or individual students to provide lessons, reinforce lessons, implement intervention strategies, and support the educational needs of all students in the classroom.Key Responsibilities:
Support Instruction:
Assist the Instructional Specialist in delivering targeted interventions and instructional support to students with varying learning needs. Provide support to students with a variety of learning profiles, including students with disabilities or other unique educational needs. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons, provide additional explanation, and ensure understanding of content. Support students with specific learning needs by implementing accommodations and modifications outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).Monitor Student Progress:
Monitor and track student progress, document observations and provide feedback to the Instructional Specialist and Case Manager regarding academic performance and behavior. Assist in managing classroom behavior and implementing strategies to maintain a productive and respectful learning environment.Professional Development and Collaboration:
Participate in professional development sessions as required by the school or district. Work collaboratively with the teacher, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure all students receive the appropriate services and supports. Assist in communicating with students, families, and team members regarding student progress and any concerns. Other Duties asAssigned:
Assist in preparing instructional materials, resources, and classroom displays as directed by the Instructional Specialist and/or case manager. Assist students during lunch, recess, drop off, and pick up, ensuring their safety and well-being. Perform additional duties as requested by the Academic Skills Center Teacher, Case Manager, Director of Special Education, Principal, and/or Supervisor. Maintain regular attendance to ensure consistency in support and learning and follow the prescribed daily schedule as outlined.Qualifications:
Completion of at least two years of relevant college education or an Associate's Degree (AA), or meeting Highly Qualified requirements by passing the Paraprofessional Exam. Prior successful experience working with students with a variety of learning needs. Familiarity with Special Education laws, regulations, and policies is preferred. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work with, and lead, elementary students in group and individual activities. Ability to exercise sound independent judgment. Strong decision-making skills and ability to adapt in an environment with changing priorities and needs.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environments combine a standard classroom setting including standard classroom equipment (assistive technology, copier, phone, Chromebook or computer, audio/visual equipment etc.) in a standard school setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate and occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. The employee may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and/or physically and emotionally dysregulated students.
