Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and heart-centered educator to join our team as a full-time Nature/Forest School Teacher . This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on, outdoor learning environments and is excited to support children in this stage of development—where imagination, social growth, and emerging academic skills come together through meaningful, real-world experiences. We are especially excited to welcome someone who is bilingual or multilingual and inspired to bring language and cultural learning into our daily rhythms in joyful, integrated ways.
Weekly Rhythm:
Monday-Thursday - Teaching (full days outdoors) Friday - Paid prep, planning, documentation, and team collaboration Schedule Full-time (40 hours/week)Monday-Thursday:

One of our core programs, WildRoots Nature School, serves children ages 3-15 through immersive, outdoor, nature-based education across our forest, farm, and garden campuses. Our approach is grounded in child-led, emergent learning , where curiosity, play, and real-world experiences guide development. We are a neuro-affirming and inclusive program , centering social-emotional growth, connection, and individualized support. We believe that nature is the first teacher , and that time outdoors fosters resilience, creativity, and belonging. Key Responsibilities Classroom Leadership Lead a mixed-age group of children (ages 5-7) in a nature-based, emergent curriculum Design and facilitate hands-on learning experiences that integrate: Early literacy and math concepts Social-emotional development Nature connection and environmental stewardship Follow children's interests to deepen engagement and learning Child Development & Guidance Support children in building: Emotional regulation Collaboration and problem-solving Independence and confidence Guide behavior through a relationship-based, neuro-affirming approach Meet each child at their individual developmental stage Daily Rhythm & Environment Create a consistent daily rhythm grounded in: Seasonal flow Storytelling, song, and play Exploration and rest Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging outdoor learning environment Incorporate land-based learning, gardening, and natural materials Prep & Planning (Fridays) Curriculum planning and material preparation Writing learning stories and documentation Family communication Team meetings and collaboration Qualifications We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with children (ages 5-7 preferred) Brings a calm, confident, and responsive presence Has a strong understanding of child development Is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Has a passion for nature-based educationStrongly Preferred:
Experience in forest school, outdoor education, or alternative education settings Background in elementary or early childhood education Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish strongly preferred) Familiarity with emergent curriculum and child-led learning Experience with gardening, permaculture, or land-based skills Who You Are You value connection over control You are playful, curious, and reflective You can hold structure while allowing flexibility and creativity You are excited to grow alongside your students and team Why This Role Matters This role supports children in a pivotal stage of development—bridging early childhood and elementary years—while fostering a deep connection to nature, self, and community.Pay:
