Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students across Carbon and Lehigh Counties as an itinerant special education professional during the 2026-2027 school year. This in-person role offers the chance to serve multiple sites, ensuring students continue to receive quality support when their regular teacher is absent. With 35 hours per week and an assignment spanning the academic calendar, you'll play a vital part in educational continuity.
Qualifications & Experience:
Hold an active Pennsylvania teaching license. Possess PA PDE Certification (Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, Instructional I, or Instructional II in the appropriate Special Education areas). Demonstrated record of service in special education environments. Skilled at participating in IEP development and implementation. Ability to commute to locations within Carbon or Lehigh County. Must be able to provide verification of active Pennsylvania licensure and PDE certification via TIMS.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide coverage for special education classrooms across a defined geographic area in Carbon or Lehigh Counties. Step in during short-term absences or be assigned to classrooms as a floating resource. Take on longer assignments as needed to cover extended leaves or vacations. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and related services to implement IEPs effectively. Support continuity of instruction and maintain classroom routines for diverse learners.
