Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract This opportunity is ideal for special education professionals skilled in supporting diverse learners across multiple grade levels. The roles focus on enhancing educational experiences for students with cognitive and autism spectrum needs through targeted instruction and collaboration with support staff.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering tailored instruction to secondary students (grades 9-11) with cognitive disabilities, utilizing a life skills curriculum. Support staff including paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides assist in classroom management and individualized attention. Providing supplemental autism support for middle and high school learners demonstrating higher-functioning autism spectrum traits. Instruction focuses on core academic subjects with co-teaching alongside paraprofessionals and 1:1 support to meet social and learning needs. Facilitating elementary-level autism support with a focus on students in grades 2-3. Managing a range of communication abilities including verbal and AAC device users, with behavioral supports as required. Work closely with Personal Care Assistants to ensure individualized care.Daily schedules:
Secondary roles operate from 7:25 AM to 2:45 PM, structured around 70-minute instructional blocks with dedicated prep and intervention time. Elementary role runs from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM, including prep and lunch periods.Desired qualifications:
