Job Description
Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments. As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will collaborate closely with educational teams to foster student achievement and independence. This opportunity is ideal for professionals who are passionate about providing specialized support and tailoring instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
State certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired Experience creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Thorough understanding of adaptive technologies and Braille instruction Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams Ability to adapt teaching methods for students with varied abilities and backgrounds Previous experience in a public school environment is a plusKey Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups Develop instructional materials tailored to student needs, including Braille, large print, or audio resources Assess student abilities and progress, documenting outcomes and adjusting plans as needed Consult with general education teachers and support staff on accommodations and classroom modifications Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of functional goals Offer guidance to families regarding strategies for supporting students outside the classroom Engage in professional development to remain current in instructional practices and assistive technology If you're enthusiastic about empowering students and eager to work with a dedicated school community, we invite you to apply for this impactful position near Dover, PA.
