Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact during the summer by supporting students in Extended School Year (ESY) programs. Dedicated Special Education Teachers are needed to empower children and adolescents in a positive, enriching environment, helping them continue their growth and development over the summer. Opportunities are available across elementary and middle school levels, with roles specializing in Life Skills, Autistic Support, and Learning/Emotional Support. Assignments will be determined based on final student enrollments and grade bands.
Assignment Details:
ESY sessions run from June 29th through July 30th, Monday-Thursday. Multiple positions available across elementary (K-2 or 3-5) and middle school (6-8).
Shifts vary by assignment:
Elementary Life Skills/Autistic Support:
8:30 AM-1:30
PM Middle School Life Skills/Autistic Support:
8:00 AM-1:00
PM Elementary Learning/Emotional Support:
8:30 AM-11:00
AM What We're Looking For:
Valid Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with children in autistic support, life skills, and/or emotional/learning support programs. A collaborative, flexible approach, able to adapt to individual student needs. Strong communication and organization skills. Ability to create inclusive, supportive classroom environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized lessons to support IEP goals. Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere for all students. Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families. Track student progress and participate in team meetings as needed. Contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing summer learning environment. These roles offer the chance to make a difference in students' lives during a pivotal time.
