Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract This opportunity is ideal for special education professionals dedicated to supporting diverse learners across multiple grade levels. Located in New Holland, PA, these contract positions focus on delivering tailored educational experiences in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction and support primarily for secondary students (grades 9-11) with cognitive needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), employing individualized strategies. Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals and 1:1 staff to address academic and behavioral objectives. Manage classrooms with a projected enrollment varying from 5 to 10 learners, depending on the specific assignment (Secondary Life Skills, Secondary Autism Support, or Elementary Autism Support). Design and implement targeted lesson plans across subjects such as ELA and Math, adjusted for middle and high school levels. Participate in intervention activities, clubs, and related support during allocated prep and lunch periods.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with secondary students in life skills and/or autism support settings, including learners with cognitive and behavioral challenges. Familiarity with AAC devices and strategies to support verbal and nonverbal learners at the elementary level. Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, including paraprofessionals and personal care assistants. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple periods and classes daily.
Work Schedule and Environment:
Secondary positions operate from 7:25 AM to 2:45 PM, five days a week, with 70-minute instructional blocks and designated preparation time. Elementary role runs from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM with prep and lunch periods. Supportive integration of staff aids ensures individualized attention for students.
