Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunity available for a driven Special Education professional to support middle school students (grades 6-8) through the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position offers a stable, full-time schedule from August through June, with work hours set Monday-Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. Utilize your expertise in both push-in and pull-out service delivery to provide individualized instruction and drive student success.
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction following the push-in/pull-out model for middle school students requiring special education services Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with general education teachers and support staff Utilize data-driven methods to track student progress and adjust instruction as needed Engage in regular communication with families and multidisciplinary teams to foster a supportive learning environment Participate in professional development sessions, team meetings, and compliance-related tasks throughout the academic year Maintain accurate documentation as required by state and federal regulations
Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or Instructional II certification in Special Education K-12 (or ability to obtain prior to start of contract) Experience working with middle school-age students is highly valued Depth of knowledge in both push-in and pull-out instructional models Commitment to collaborative practices and student-focused education Strong organizational and communication skills Pay for this position ranges from $37.50 to $54.75 per hour, based on experience and certification level.
