Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students with visual impairments to succeed by utilizing your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in this rewarding contract role. This full-time opportunity is located near Norristown, PA, with assignments throughout Delaware County. You will serve as an itinerant educator, traveling between multiple schools within the county and adapting your skills to support a diverse, school-aged caseload. As the primary point of contact for students with visual impairments, you will collaborate with school teams to design and deliver individualized instructional programs that foster independence and academic achievement.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid state teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired Familiarity with Braille, tactile graphics, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies Ability to travel to various schools within the county as required Strong communication and collaboration skills Commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and adaptive technology Advise classroom teachers and staff on accessibility and adaptations Conduct assessments to determine students' functional vision and educational needs Collaborate with families, service providers, and multidisciplinary teams Maintain up-to-date documentation and progress reports This contract position offers a dynamic workday, with flexible itinerancy and the ability to make a meaningful difference in multiple educational settings.
