Duties:
Daily role and responsibilities with students and staff Meet frequently with and report to Director of Secondary Special Education Promote students' health and well-being through a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) Conduct observations of students to determine the function of a child's behavior and collaborate on student's emotional regulation needs. Apply a professional decision making model to crisis situations Distinguish between emotional behavior and deliberate misbehavior Prevent deliberate behavior by applying social needs theory Research, design, implement and support SEL and Behavioral programs (i.e. self-regulating behaviors and emotions, positive identities, social awareness, and responsible decision making) Collaborate on, design, assist with implementation of PBIP Develop and implement strategies and approaches for positive student environments and engagement Develop positive relationships and trust with students Use various verbal skills to keep potential volatile situations safe De-escalate emotional crisis using three levels of active listening Use safe protection techniques, restraints or escorts for student & staff safety For students in the
SEB Program:
participate in re-entry meetings for students / mediate restorative meetings between students and staff Consult and train identified team members, professional, and paraprofessional staff Monitor and develop training on behavior management strategies and assessments to address challenging behaviors in collaboration with SEB and MTSS teams. Provide coaching and mentoring to staff while overseeing the implementation of programs for students. Collaborate in the development of measures and monitor data collection for student PBIPs.. Consult with families on specific goals and meaningful interventions. Assist NFCS direct staff, school professionals, and families in developing teaching/learning plans and positive support plans in conjunction with SEB Team. Promote collaboration and communication with all team members. Supervise service delivery and the professional development of staff as part of the administrative team. Attend and participate in meetings, training programs, and supervision as required by NFCS Successful candidates will have the following attributes: At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations. Appropriate PA certification or a clear pathway towards certification. Ability to work well individually and as part of a team. A willingness to engage in instructional support so that you continually grow and improve as an educator. Ability to maintain/write individual education plans. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
