This growth will make Esperanza Academy the second-largest single charter school in Philadelphia, reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality education to even more students in our city.THE OPPORTUNITY
Esperanza Academy Charter School is seeking Certified Special Education Teachers to support students during our Extended School Year (ESY) Program. This role is ideal for a dedicated educator committed to ensuring students with disabilities continue to receive high-quality instruction, services, and support beyond the traditional school year. The ESY Teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned to students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), focusing on maintaining critical academic and functional skills. This is a temporary, part-time summer position. Why Teach ESY at Esperanza Academy? ✔ Support student growth and prevent regression over the summer ✔ Work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment ✔ Gain additional experience supporting diverse learners ✔ Contribute to equitable access to education year-round Key Responsibilities Deliver targeted instruction aligned to students' IEP goals and ESY services Provide small-group and individualized support in literacy, math, and functional skills Implement IEP accommodations and modifications with fidelity Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals Foster a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and ESY staff Support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs Maintain accurate and compliant documentation and records Communicate effectively with families and staff as needed What You Will Bring A strong belief in Esperanza Academy's mission and commitment to equity Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field Valid PA Special Education Certification (PK-12, PK-8, or 7-12) OR valid PA Emergency Certification-Special Education PK-12 Experience working with students with disabilities (preferred) Ability to differentiate instruction and manage small groups effectively Strong collaboration and communication skills Familiarity with IEP implementation and progress monitoring Current FBI, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse clearances (within 12 months)EQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT
