Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs and co-teaching with general education teachers. You will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to ensure that each student receives the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students
• Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, including literacy, math, and science
• Utilize behavior management techniques to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to address specific student needs
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and individualized goals
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in special education

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid teaching certification in Special Education
• Experience working with children with special needs
• Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies for students with disabilities
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies
• Experience in speech therapy, literacy education, or deaf education is a plus
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
