Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs and co-teaching with general education teachers. You will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to ensure that each student receives the support they need to succeed academically and socially.Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, including literacy, math, and science
- Utilize behavior management techniques to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to address specific student needs
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and individualized goals
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in special education
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with children with special needs
- Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies for students with disabilities
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies
- Experience in speech therapy, literacy education, or deaf education is a plus
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
