Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and certified Special Education Teacher for a full-time position working with students in the Philadelphia, PA 19138 area. This is a contract position for the 2026-2027 school year, beginning in the Fall. The selected candidate will work in an Autistic Support classroom serving students with significant communication and adaptive needs, including students who are minimally verbal and utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-3:30 PM. Eligible candidates must be certified Special Education teachers in Pennsylvania with up-to-date clearances.
Qualifications:
Must be a Certified Special Education Teacher in the state of Pennsylvania Must have a Bachelor's degree (at minimum) Must have current, up-to-date clearances Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferred Knowledge of behavior management strategies, data collection methods, and autism-specific instructional practices preferred
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement IEPs while providing individualized and small-group instruction in academics, communication, social-emotional development, and adaptive skills Utilize evidence-based autism support strategies, including structured teaching, visual supports, AAC systems, and positive behavior interventions Monitor student progress through ongoing data collection and use data to inform instruction Support students with adaptive and self-care skills, including individualized toileting plans as needed Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to promote student success across settings Maintain required documentation and ensure compliance with all special education regulations and school requirements Participate in IEP meetings, team collaboration, and ongoing professional development At Humanus, we are devoted to making a difference and improving the lives of others.
