1.0 Special Education Teacher - Contract

Anticipated Start Date:
2026-2027 School Year (Start August 2026)
Summary:
Provide special education services through the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Collaborate and communicate with students, families, and staff to support the unique needs of learners.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) Facilitate collaboration with team members to support the students' academic, behavioral, emotional, and social needs Ensure that the classroom environment is conducive to learning while building a positive rapport with students Implement positive behavioral and effective classroom management strategies Communicate regularly with students, families, staff, and administrators regarding student matters Communicate with professionalism in all required areas Collaborate with the special education curriculum leader and district leadership to understand yearly roles and responsibilities as dictated by student need Understanding of special education process, procedures, and compliance Follow district policy, guidelines, regulations and procedures, as well as, maintain confidentiality according to law and policy
Skills/Abilities:
Excellent teaching and classroom management skills Experience and knowledge of various behavior management techniques to support students' emotional and social goals Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, families, staff, and, administration Ability to implement policy and procedures Exhibit general knowledge of curriculum and instruction Effective oral and written communication
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree PA teaching certificate in Special Education (K-12 or PreK-8) Experience in either a public or private education setting is preferred
