POSITION OVERVIEW
Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School is seeking a dynamic and data-driven Grade Level Interventionist to join our instructional team. The Interventionist plays a critical role in accelerating academic growth by providing daily, small group instruction in both English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics across an assigned grade level. The Interventionist collaborates closely with both classroom teachers in the assigned grade to co-plan, deliver, and monitor targeted interventions aligned to student needs. The role is designed to close skill gaps using research-based practices in a variety of settings including push-in, pull-out, and station-based formats. Ideal candidates are instructional at their core, excel in small group facilitation, and are committed to equity, inclusion, and measurable academic outcomes. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Support & Intervention Delivery Deliver daily, small group instruction focused on Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports in both ELA and math, using evidence-based intervention programs such as i-Ready, SPIRE, Fundations, and Heggerty Co-plan with lead teachers to identify daily learning objectives, student groupings, and instructional strategies Facilitate small group stations and parallel teaching sessions to lower the student-teacher ratio and increase engagement Pre-teach and reteach key content and foundational skills using diagnostic and formative data Provide instructional scaffolds and support materials to ensure student access to grade-level curriculum Prepare instructional materials and adapt upcoming lessons to match intervention goals Reinforce Tier 1 instruction by modeling routines, supporting behavior, and promoting engagement strategies Serve as the designated substitute teacher for their assigned grade level in the event of an absence Support classroom climate through proactive behavior strategies and de-escalation when necessary Collaboration & Team-Based Planning Collaborate daily with grade-level teachers and support teams (Diverse Learning, ESL, MTSS) to adjust instruction and student groupings based on ongoing data Attend and participate in PLCs, SST, and data team meetings to align practices with schoolwide goals Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with teaching partners and colleagues Support the development of School Attendance Improvement Plans (SAIPs) and contribute academic insights for SAP referrals DATA MONITORING & PROGRESS TRACKING
Administer diagnostics and frequent progress monitoring to assess student mastery and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain accurate records of student intervention plans, instructional groupings, data trackers, and MTSS documentation Input timely data into school systems to ensure instructional plans are responsive to student needs Use assessment data and observations to recommend changes in tiered supports, grouping, or instructional strategies Participate in ongoing coaching cycles to review instructional effectiveness and alignment with student data FAMILY COMMUNICATION & TEAM ENGAGEMENT
Communicate regularly with families about student progress, intervention goals, and strategies for support at home Serve as a consistent and approachable academic advocate for students within the grade level Partner with the school social worker, Dean of Students, and Diverse Learning staff to ensure wraparound supports are coordinated and communicated Reinforce strong school-home partnerships by contributing to family meetings, phone calls, and academic updates as needed PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Participate in school-based professional development focused on intervention, inclusive practices, and culturally responsive instruction Remain coachable and open to instructional feedback aligned to the school's academic priorities Stay current on best practices for intervention, progress monitoring, and small group differentiation QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Certification (or actively working toward certification) Proven success delivering small group instruction and using data to drive academic outcomes Experience working in urban public or charter school environments Strong knowledge of MTSS, instructional interventions, and student support strategies Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Preferred:
Master's degree in Education or Reading/Math Specialist certification Familiarity with instructional platforms such as i-Ready, Fundations, Heggerty, and SPIRE Experience working with students requiring SAIPs, IEPs, or behavior intervention plans Deep understanding of culturally responsive teaching and inclusive education PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
