Special Education Teacher - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ProCare Therapy - 3.9 Pittsburgh, PA Job Details Contract 11 hours ago Qualifications Working with individuals with disabilities Working with students Classroom experience Classroom Teaching Special Education Certification Full Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education (K-12) required Knowledge and/or experience teaching students with visual impairments and additional disabilities preferred Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities Ability and willingness to assist with lifting, positioning, and supporting students and equipment (up to 50 lbs) Comfortable with frequent physical movement—bending, reaching, crouching, and moving wheelchairs and adaptive equipment Passion for working in diverse environments, including therapy areas, pools, and outdoor spaces
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and deliver individualized instruction to students with varying needs, adapting materials into braille, large print, and accessible formats Develop and implement IEPs and conduct assessments in compliance with IDEA and state requirements Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers Guide and support classroom aides, ensuring a positive and engaging learning atmosphere Implement data-driven instructional strategies and monitor student progress Foster growth in academic, functional, social, and self-advocacy skills Stay current with best practices in vision education, actively participating in training and professional development Enjoy the unique benefit of support toward obtaining your Teacher of the Visually Impaired certificate through partnership with PITT's program (fees covered).
