Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the life of a medically fragile middle school student as a Special Education Teacher, with the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated support team. This year-round contract position focuses on supporting a bed-bound student who receives services at home and requires a compassionate, creative, and consistent educator. You'll work in close partnership with occupational therapy, speech, and physical therapy professionals to foster learning, engagement, and growth. The school district is especially seeking a fluent bilingual (Spanish/English) Special Education Teacher, as the student's parents are Spanish-speaking. However, highly qualified non-bilingual providers are encouraged to apply—accommodations can be made with a language interpreter if needed. The district values consistency and is looking for someone who can build a long-term, nurturing relationship with the student and family.
Qualifications:
Certification in Special Education (active and in good standing) Experience working with medically complex or bed-bound students preferred Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred, but not required Commitment to supporting students with high needs in innovative ways Reliable, compassionate, and able to commit to a long-term position
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction for approximately 2.5 hours per week, in-person Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the student's individualized needs Collaborate with speech, OT, and PT professionals to coordinate care Foster clear communication with the student's family, utilizing Spanish if possible Document progress and maintain goal-oriented plans per IEP guidelines
