Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding summer opportunity impacting the lives of K-12 students as a Special Education Teacher for a four-week Extended School Year (ESY) program. This contract position runs from July 6th through August 6th, 2026, Monday through Thursday, 8am to 2:15pm (25 hours weekly), providing you with an engaging and purposeful schedule. You'll be supporting students with blindness or visual impairments, many of whom have additional needs such as autism or behavior disorders. Your expertise will help create a meaningful educational experience and foster growth in a supportive, collaborative environment.
What We're Looking For:
Valid Pennsylvania Teacher Certification (required; no emergency certifications) Demonstrated experience teaching K-12, especially working with students with blindness/visual impairments (strongly preferred) Background in supporting learners with diverse needs, including autism and behavioral challenges CPR/First Aid certification (preferred). Training provided prior to the start date if needed. Dedication to promoting inclusion, growth, and independence for all students
In This Role, You'll:
Deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs and IEP goals Implement instructional adaptations for students with visual impairments and other disabilities Monitor student progress, documenting growth and adjusting strategies as necessary Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a safe, positive learning environment Communicate regularly with families to ensure continuity of support You'll enjoy a competitive compensation range of $37-$52 per hour while spending your summer making a genuine difference in students' lives.
